IPCC Library

“A repository of IPCC Assessment Reports, Special Reports, Methodology Reports, Technical Papers and reports from IPCC Expert meetings.”

The mission of IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Changeis to provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of knowledge regarding climate change and its potential environmental and socioeconomic impacts, and to provide rigorous and balanced scientific information to decision makers.

WMO

“The specialized agency of the United Nations for meteorology (weather and climate), operational hydrology and related geophysical sciences “

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) publishes and distributes the conclusions of the most authoritative studies on the state and behavior of the Earth’s atmosphere and its interaction with land, oceans, weather, and climate.

ESRL Global Monitoring Division

“NOAA/ESRL’s Global Monitoring Division (GMD) of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration conducts research that addresses three major challenges; greenhouse gas and carbon cycle feedbacks, changes in clouds, aerosols, and surface radiation, and recovery of stratospheric ozone.”

The Global Monitoring Division of the Earth System Research Laboratory of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) publishes online, updated each spring, values of an index called Annual Greenhouse Gas Index (AGGI). This index is directly proportional to the change in the direct warming influence since 1750 and it is based on the observed amounts (also reported) of long-lived greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Swell and sea in the emerging Arctic Ocean

“further reductions in seasonal ice cover in the future will result in larger waves, which in turn provide a mechanism to break up sea ice and accelerate ice retreat.”

This open access article, by Thomson and W. Erick Rogers, shows why Arctic sea ice retreat is accelerating.
Questo articolo, liberamente accessibile, pubblicato da Thomson and W. Erick Rogers spiega perché i ghiacci artici si stanno ritirando a ritmo accelerato.

Enhanced basal lubrication and the contribution of the Greenland ice sheet to future sea-level rise

“A wide range of observations suggest that water generated by melt at the surface of the ice sheet reaches its bed by both fracture and drainage through moulins. Once at the bed, this water is likely to affect lubrication”

This open access article, by Sarah R. Shannon, Antony J. Payne, Ian D. Bartholomew, Michiel R. van den Broeke, Tamsin L. Edwards, Xavier Fettweis, Olivier Gagliardini, Fabien Gillet-Chaulet, Heiko Goelzer, Matthew J. Hoffman, Philippe Huybrechts, Douglas W. F. Mair, Peter W. Nienow, Mauro Perego, Stephen F. Price, C. J. P. Paul Smeets, Andrew J. Sole, Roderik S. W. van de Wal, and Thomas Zwinger, studies how glacers motion can be affected by a lubrication mechanism due to water generated by melt at the surface of the ice sheet.

An Integrated Approach to Climate Change

“A Learning Pathway to an Integrated Approach Involving Natural, Applied and Social Science, Humanities and Arts to Face Climate Change”

This article, by the author of this website, reviews the main current sources of scientific information on climate change. Since this website is currently under construction and shows few links, this article can help to address this limitation.
